everyone says track your cycle and i did for like three years. just marking day 1-28 in an app. showed my gyno nothing. she’d be like ‘irregular’ and shrug.
then i switched to logging the specifics. when my LH surge actually happened (if it happened). when i felt the androgens kick in. when my insulin crashed.
where my temperature was. ovulation status - was it happening that month or not. suddenly my endocrinologist could actually SEE the pattern. she was like ‘ok so this is insulin resistance, this is why your androgens are elevated, this is why you’re not ovulating some months.’ like…
nobody tells you that the difference between useless tracking and useful tracking is about 20 minutes of actual attention per cycle. writing down numbers vs writing down WHAT THE NUMBERS MEAN. i know it sounds obvious but i spent years doing the first thing because doctors said ‘track’ and never said ‘here’s what to track.’ does anyone else have their turning point where logging changed from ‘i have data’ to ‘i have data my doctor actually listens to’? what was the thing that made it click for you?
