Labs tanked the week i looked the best

wednesday i managed a full shift w/o stopping for breaks. no swelling, energy there, even did the ledger on one screen instead of three. coworker said “you look like yourself again.” i smiled, felt weirdly vindicated for the first time in months. idk, thursday morning i checked my labs. C3 was 76, C4 was 24. both down. the numbers i watch for right before everything falls apart. people see you on the wednesday.

they remember that. when you call in friday or your hands swell monday, suddenly it’s all suspect. “but you looked fine last week?” yeah. that’s the thing about invisible illness nobody warns you about. your good day becomes evidence you were probably fine all along. i’ve stopped trying to explain without data. my rheumatologist wouldn’t see the pattern until i brought six months of bloodwork timelines. now i pull labs monthly instead of once a year. because a single good week tells you nothing. the C3/C4 drop tells the real story.
