been on ketotifen for about three weeks. the mast cell symptoms actually settle - way less flushing, hives aren’t escalating the way they were. but the brain fog is real, and i catch pattern breaks at work for a living. can’t function like that.
so i switched to H1 plus H2 blocker combo instead. cetirizine (H1) plus an H2 on a set schedule, pre-emptive dosing in the windows where i know triggers are coming. and the sequence actually changes. flushing still hits but slower - usually 20 minutes instead of 10-15 - and when it does the duration is shorter.
the urticaria on my forearms doesn’t layer up the same way either. the brain fog is basically gone. still managing diet strictly, but my work accuracy is back where it needs to be. what surprised me: H1 blocker alone wasn’t enough.
the H2 component actually fills a gap. vascular symptoms respond better to the combo than to either one solo. the tradeoff is managing timing windows instead of just a single pill. but that’s information i can use.
i track when the window closes and plan around it. anyone else run H1 plus H2 as baseline? how long did it take before the timing of your reactions actually shifted?
