Insulin resistance was actually the problem

i spent three years doing 1200-1500 calories, tracking everything, seeing a dietitian. hit my targets consistently. weight barely moved. my gyn never tested for insulin resistance or acted like it mattered.

finally got an endocrinologist who ordered the panel. fasting insulin was 16. suddenly it all made sense - i wasn’t failing at calories, my body was just metabolically stuck fighting me the whole time. once we actually addressed the insulin resistance (meds + food quality shift, not restriction), my cycle came back and weight started moving.

not because i finally got “disciplined” but because we were treating the actual problem. the calorie piece everyone talks about - it matters, but if your insulin is high, you’re fighting physics. no amount of restriction fixes that without treating the insulin piece. has anyone else figured out their insulin resistance before vs after spending years just cutting calories?

how long did it take your body to respond once you actually got that diagnosed and treated?
