i had gastric bypass back in 2014, so my situation is a little different than someone starting fresh. Been on semaglutide for about 11 mos now, down 34 pounds. It’s been slower than some, which my doc said might be the case. For others here who’ve also had bariatric surgery and are on semaglutide, at what dose did you really start to feel it?
I’m not just talking about the scale moving, though that’s obviously part of it. I mean the quietness of the food noise, that feeling of not constantly thinking about food. That’s a big deal after living with it coming back for so long. Or the actual shift in cravings.
I know for a lot of people who haven’t had bypass, the lower doses like 0.25 or 0.5mg make a big impact pretty quick. My surgeon said it might be different for us because our bodies are already adjusted to a different level of restriction and nutrient absorption, and our hunger signals are wired differently post-op. Just wondering if that’s been the case for others. Did you hit 1.0mg or higher before you felt a real shift in appetite control or the other benefits?
Or was it earlier for you? Curious what people’s experiences have been with that specific feeling of things actually shifting haha
