Five years bouncing between doctors just to land here

rheumatologist finally said fibromyalgia last month after inconclusive imaging and every other test came back normal. ruled out lupus, ruled out lyme, ruled out neuropathy. what was left was the diagnosis of exclusion - not because they found something, but because they eliminated everything else. part of me felt relieved having a name.

at least somebody was listening. the pharmacy tech in me wanted the diagnosis to be an answer. but it’s not. doesn’t explain why i sleep eight hours and wake at 6/10.

doesn’t explain why flares hit with zero trigger. doesn’t explain why pacing holds for six weeks then just stops. the doctor handed me a fibromyalgia code for my boss and that was that. the name didn’t come with answers.

just confirmation that they don’t know either. anyone else get diagnosed and realize the diagnosis changed nothing about the mystery?
