First IUI and honestly the waiting part killed me

so we finally did the first IUI last week. whole procedure was like 3 minutes, barely felt anything. but the week leading up wrecked me. started monitoring my cycle at day 3, which meant ultrasounds every other day.

watching them measure my follicles knowing one specific day was the make-it-or-break-it moment messed with my head. i’m used to tracking w/ apps and temping, knowing my own patterns. this was different. in someone else’s hands.

they gave me the trigger shot friday night and the window was 24-36 hours after that for the IUI. timed sex beforehand feels ridiculous when a doctor’s appointment is literally the backup plan. what surprised me was the crash after. not physical - mild cramping for a day, nothing.

but emotionally it’s like the anticipation carried me through and then suddenly there’s nothing but waiting. we did everything right - good follicle count, good numbers, proper timing. and i still feel like i missed some detail. like i’m bargaining.

how long was your wait before testing? did anyone else find the limbo harder than the actual procedure?

that feeling of “bargaining” is understandable, bc the expectation that optimized inputs like follicle count and timing directly translate to a deterministic outcome is often what sets people up for that emotional crash. 'make-it-or-
