Cold hands on levothyroxine

i’ve been on levothyroxine for a bit now and noticed my hands get really cold, especially in the mornings. anyone else experience this?

i’ve been tracking my tsh and free t3 labs, and it seems to happen when my free t3 is a bit low. wondering if it’s related or just a coincidence.

fwiw, i’ve also been having some brain fog around the same time. trying to figure out if it’s all connected

tracking those smaller shifts, like your free t3 dipping, that’s absolutely the kind of thing you have to log yourself. because the “low free t3” might not flag as an issue on a single lab draw, but the pattern of it dropping when you feel worse is the actual signal.

i do the same with my C3/C4 and the brain fog. it’s wild how doctors only want to look at the appointment snapshot.

the daily check-in flow in CareClinic is the only way i remember to log that stuff consistently.

that “free t3 is a bit low” and still having symptoms is the exact problem with lab ranges. my rheumatologist only wants to run my complement labs once a year, but my C3 and C4 numbers drop weeks before i’m actually in a flare. i had to push my GP for monthly bloodwork to even catch that pattern, because an appointment snapshot always looked “fine.” brain fog is definitely connected for me too when my labs are off.

certainly possible that low free t3 is contributing to your cold hands, as you mentioned “it seems to happen when my free t3 is a bit low”. however, i’ve noticed that even when my tsh and free t3 labs are in range, i still get cold hands in the mornings.

makes me wonder if there’s something else at play, like circulation or cortisol levels. you also mentioned brain fog around the same time, which could be related to the cold hands or a separate issue altogether.

have you considered tracking your cortisol levels to see if there’s a correlation with your cold hands and brain fog?

that brain fog part is brutal, especially when you’re trying to figure out “if it’s all connected” . i get similar stuff sometimes and it’s always a guessing game if it’s just general fatigue or actual migraine prodrome kicking in. even with logging it all, it’s tough to really connect the dots sometimes.
