CGM caught something my A1C never would've flagged

not the same thing as my other post about the fasting labs being fine but this is the actual side effect part so separate thread. day 9 on the CGM and I got a reading of 168 about 40 min after lunch on a totally normal school day. lunch was leftover pasta, nothing wild. my A1C is 5.4, always has been, so on paper I’m not diabetic or even prediabetic.

but that spike is not nothing, right? it came back down to like 110 within 2 hours so it’s not a flat sustained thing, it’s a sharp spike and drop. the part nobody warned me about: the sensor itself gave me a weird welt under the adhesive around day 5, not painful just itchy and red in a perfect circle the size of the sensor. rotated the arm for the second one and it hasn’t happened again so I think it was just that first spot, maybe alcohol prep residue or something.

anyway the actual question. is a 168 spike after a carb lunch something worth bringing to my endo or is that just… normal for a non-diabetic body? I don’t have anything to compare it to bc I’ve never had continuous data before, only the once-a-year fasting draw.

trying to figure out if this is “insulin resistance starting quietly” or if literally everyone’s glucose does this after pasta and I’m about to panic over nothing. anyone else start a CGM for non-diabetic reasons and get a number that made you sit up straight? what was your number and did your doctor actually do anything with it or just shrug.
