A regular cold made ms symptoms go haywire

i caught some bug going around the library last week. just a regular head cold, sniffles, scratchy throat, nothing major. but man, it hit different with ms. usually, a cold lasts me like 5 days, maybe a week, and i’m fine.

this one, my fatigue jumped like crazy on day 2. felt like i was back to square one after getting some control over it with my ocrevus. the brain fog was unbelievable. trying to read a cataloging entry felt like trying to swim through molasses.

and my left leg, the one with the foot drop, felt extra heavy and stiff, almost like i’d done a marathon. it’s been almost 10 days now and i still feel drained, not like a normal cold recovery. does anyone else notice a totally disproportionate reaction to a basic cold or flu? like your body just doesn’t have the reserves to fight it off AND manage the ms?

my neuro just says “rest and fluids” but it feels like it takes twice as long for everything to settle back down. is that just how it is for us, or am i missing something? i just feel like i’m recovering from a full-on flare, not a common cold.

that brain fog from a cold hitting different, i know that feeling. it’s like your system just doesn’t have the bandwidth for anything extra, and then you’re trying to figure out if it’s just the virus or if it’s actually triggering a flare. my complement levels are what i watch when something like a cold
