people ask how i function on a 6/10 day and i’m like… you mean while i’m driving a delivery route? a 6/10 for me is photophobia bad enough for sunglasses, vestibular shit making turns feel wrong, and the prodrome window where a triptan makes sense. i can’t hide it.
every stop, every bright street makes it worse. my neurologist asked what i do on flare days. i said ‘nothing, i call out.’ she looked surprised. like maybe she thought 6/10 meant manageable.
but there’s no way i’m taking orders while the aura is running and my depth perception is off. the scale falls apart when your job requires coordination. what counts as ‘power through it’ at a desk doesn’t translate to delivery routes. anyone else found the pain scale basically useless once you factor in what you actually do for work?
